A desire to create a business that is commercially viable while also being socially responsible is an issue that many business owners around the world face. One way that businesses have achieved a balance between commercial and social value is by building their businesses around the notion of donating their products to people in need  – one product sold equals one product donated. The ‘buy one, give one’ business model has been implemented by businesses around the world, including New Zealand.

Meet ASB Business customer FRANK Stationery. Jason and Jess Holdaway started FRANK as a way to provide New Zealanders with a simple way to partner with children in need. FRANK sells beautifully designed stationery and school supplies, and for every item you buy they give away the same item to a Kiwi child in need. You buy one, they give one. It’s that simple.

“I love the concept of a business that uses its place in the market to directly impact people in need, while still growing and providing a great product. The buy one, give one model gives us the opportunity to combine our passion for business and people, while offering a sustainable solution to poverty in New Zealand” says Jason, founder of FRANK.

We’ve been able to help FRANK Stationery implement their socially and commercially viable ‘for-profit’ business model by offering a variety of business banking tools such as online banking, flexible business accounts, and more.
